Heyer Movies?

Everyone keeps asking why haven't any Heyer movies been made, like they have for Austen's works....well, hold onto your hats, two were!

  • The Reluctant Widow: Don't hold your breath, as this was made as a spoof.

The movie has been posted to YouTube with Greek subtitles. Although it ends slightly prematurely, you get enough :-) Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, Part 9

  • Die Bezaubernde Arabella: The German version of Arabella, also not much information. There is some more on this Google-translated page (with pictures!). It does look from the movie poster that they did 'update' the movie from the Regency period, tho.

More information may come from Julia who recently purchased the video on eBay. I have more pictures that have been collected including some promotional postcards on a separate page for Die Bezaubernde Arabella.

  • Choosy Productions in the UK have the film rights to all Heyer books except 'The Grand Sophy' and 'These Old Shades' which are owned by a company in the USA. Hopefully, this means that we could look forward to seeing some movies come out within our lifetimes. Any one who wants to write a screenplay, however, I'm sure it would assist!
